An infant was a victim of sexual assault from the age of 6 months. She was being sexually assaulted by her older teenage cousin. The mother went to several government hospitals and clinics, as well as a private doctor to report that she was concerned something was wrong with her daughter. She was repeatedly ignored. Although she has suspicions but with any concrete evidence, she was unable to secure the help she needed. Her fears were confirmed when her daughter was old enough to speak and articulate clearly that someone had been hurting her, at the age of two years, almost 18 after the abuse began.
A police case was opened. Isibani has made a complaint to the Health Professionals SCA about the failure of the private doctor to handle the manner according to the medical ethics code.
